Alma Brown (Werts)
Alma W. Brown, 95, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2017 at the Genesis Mercerville Nursing Center in Hamilton, NJ. Born and raised in Trenton, she graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1940. In 1955, she moved to Morrisville, PA where she resided until 1987. She then moved to Hamilton Township to live with her son and daughter-in-law until 2015. Alma was a member of the Eastern Star Bordentown Chapter #257, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morrisville, PA. She worked for Curtain & Heefner Law Firm as a paralegal where she was employed for 30 years prior to her retirement. Not enjoying retirement, she went on to work for the Nottingham Insurance Agency, then she took a job at the Community Blood Council of America, as a finance director, finally retiring at the age of 87. Alma loved playing bingo, gambling in Atlantic City, and telling jokes.
Alma was predeceased by her parents, Voorhees and Mildred (Garmer) Werts; her brother, Robert Werts; her in-laws, George and Ella (Mapps) Brown; and her beloved Husband Eugene “Gene” Brown; she is survived by her son, Gary E. and his wife Judith (DeGeorge) Brown; two grandchildren, Gary E. Brown, Jr. and his wife Stephanie, and Michele (Brown) and her husband Mike Elmer; three great grandchildren, Emily and Giuliana Brown, and Mason Elmer; she also leaves behind three best friends, Ed and Dot Panacek, and Carol Kahny.
Christian funeral services will be held Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619.
Pastor Jack Mcanlis of Morrisville Presbyterian will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.
