Carl T. Holden WEST PALM BEACH, FL Carl T. Holden, 63, entered into God's eternal rest suddenly on Nov. 8, 2017, at his home in West Palm Beach, FL. Mr. Holden was born in Trenton, NJ, on Nov. 23, 1953, and resided in Hamilton Township until 2002, when he moved to West Palm Beach. He was a union laborer, having retired from Heavy and General Laborers Local 172 in Bordentown.
Carl was a graduate of Steinert High School, Class of 1971, where he was a varsity starter for the Steinert High School baseball team. An accomplished athlete, Carl progressed through baseball leagues in Hamilton Township, from the Nottingham Little League to the Hamilton Babe Ruth League, where he was a District One All Star Champion, and the Hamilton Post 31. He had an outstanding reputation for his pitching skills as a left hander, and for his powerful batting skills. After his baseball career, he played slow-pitch softball in various highly competitive Mercer County leagues, including the Mercer Major League and Hamilton A League. He also participated in weekend tournaments on a state and regional level. Carl was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching NFL football and major league baseball.
Carl was the son of the late Richard C. and Addie (Poole) Holden, and was also predeceased by his former in-laws, Charles and Phyllis Scarna. Carl is survived by his former wife, Charlotte Scarna Holden; four daughters, Christina Holden and her partner, David Cray, of Westampton, Stacey and her husband, Chetan S. Shah, of Titusville, Jennifer Holden, and Charlotte Marie Holden of Hamilton; eight grandchildren, Sophia, Nina, Alexander and Julianna Shah, Ava Charlie and Bianca Holden, and Gianna and Vincenzo Schiano; a brother, Richard C. Holden Jr. of Zephyrhills, FL; two nephews; his beloved dog and best friend, Neo, and many friends, both in West Palm Beach and Hamilton.
Catholic memorial services will be held Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619.
