Louis Costa Sr.
Louis G. Costa Sr., 85, of Hamilton entered into God’s eternal rest on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Brookdale Hamilton surrounded by his loving family. Born in Trenton, Mr. Costa was a lifelong area resident. He retired from McGraw Hill after more than 30 years as a fork truck operator. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Louis was civically active and extremely charitable. He was a parishioner of St. Raphael-Holy Angels Parish where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, worked with the Social Concerns Group, was very involved with its Food Pantry and was formerly involved in Engaged Encounter. He also participated in Marriage Encounter in the past through the Trenton Diocese. Louis loved to help those that were underprivileged and enjoyed giving back of himself to his community.
Louis was a member of the Hamilton Knights of Columbus Council # 6213 where he was privileged to have been a Grand Knight as well as a Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree. Through the Knights he participated in many civic activities such as visiting the Lyon’s Hospital and attending the Lyon’s picnics.
Louis loved traveling with his wife, and had visited many places overseas as well as domestically. He thoroughly enjoyed the shore especially his days spent in LBI clamming. He loved to entertain his family there where they had a home for many years. Louis was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Son of the late Antonio and Rose Marie (Severino) Costa; brother of the late Frank, Carmen, and Anthony Costa, and Victoria Bilardo; Louis is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ann L. (Giaquinto) Costa; his two beloved children, Louis G. Costa Jr. and wife Anna, Antoinette “Toni” and husband Rick Dori; four grandchildren, Danielle and husband Joseph Tuccillo, John Dori, Antonio and Juliana Costa; two great grandchildren, Samuel and Giulia Grace Tuccillo; a sister-in-law, Johanna Giaquinto; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 9:30 AM at St. Raphael’s Church, 3500 So. Broad St., Hamilton, NJ. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1200 Cedar Ln., Hamilton, NJ. Family and friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619.
