Secundina "Teresa" Colon (Figueroa)
Secundina “Teresa” Colon, 98, of Bordentown, NJ entered into God’s eternal rest on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Hamilton Continuing Care in Hamilton. Born in Maunabo, Puerto Rico, she emigrated to the U.S. in 1955 residing in Manhattan, NY prior to moving to the Trenton area in 1960. Secundina was a master seamstress who was employed for many years with Aberdeen Sportswear in Trenton, NJ. She was a former parishioner of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Trenton where she served as a former president for their Altar Rosary Society. She along with her daughter were also parishioner’s of St. Mary’s Church in Bordentown.
Secundina loved sewing, and taught many others the skill. She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, and loved to read the bible.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Daughter of the late Antonio and Paula (Arroyo) Figueroa; sister of the late Eleonor Rodriguez, Maria Ortiz, Emerito Figueroa, Fernando “Freddie” Figueroa and Antero Figueroa; she is survived by her two loving daughters, Carmen T. and husband Frank Palise, and Iliana and husband David Okum; four grandchildren, Karen and husband Andrew Fosina, John Palise, Laura and husband Greg Britton, and Michael Okum; six great grandchildren, Sarah and Courtney Fosina, Sabrina and Luke Palise, Emily and Elizabeth Britton; four siblings, Antonia Guisao, Justine Gonzalez, Eliodora “Doris” Figueroa, and Edelmira “Millie” Nye; and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 9:00 AM at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown, NJ. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1200 Cedar Ln., Hamilton, NJ. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown, NJ 08505.
