Obituary for James Gilliam Jr.

James  Gilliam Jr.
James Curtis Gilliam, Jr., 73, of Ewing Township, passed away on July 24, 2018 at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center. Born in Gate City, Virginia, Jim graduated from Hamilton High School and Trenton Technical Institute. Jim is a United States Army veteran, after which he worked as an electronics technician at RCA Space Center, Space Labs & Creston Inc.; ending his career as a skilled maintenance worker at Hunterdon Central High School.

Jim was a loving, kind, easy going and devoted husband, father, brother and uncle who enjoyed traveling and spending time with family, friends, and his beloved kitty, Charlene.

Son of the late Nora G. Vayo, brother of the late Carolyn Maze, Billy Vayo, and brother-in-law of the late Frank Caperello; Jim is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Cathleen (Caperello) Gilliam; his daughter and daughter-in-law, Janine and Sarah James; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Daniel Shoup, Gale and Michael Markel, Barbara and Brian Pfister; a sister-in-law, Janet Caperello, and a number of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A Celebration of his life will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Parkside Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 1584 Parkside Ave., Ewing, NJ 08638. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday morning from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, 400 Woolsey St., Hamilton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s memory to EASEL Animal Rescue League, P.O. Box 5903, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648, Funny Farm Rescue, 6908 Railroad Blvd., Mays Landing, NJ 08330 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
