Obituary for Helen Martakis (Mitrou)

Helen Martakis, 73, of Lawrenceville, NJ entered into God’s eternal rest on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Compassionate Care Hospice Unit at Robert Wood Johnson Univ. Hospital at Hamilton. Born in Loutraki, Korinthias, Greece she immigrated to the United States in 1973 with her husband Mihail. Helen was an excellent homemaker who enjoyed cooking and caring for her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Helen is predeceased by her parents, Spiros and Maria (Dritsas) Mitrou; her brother, Takis Mitrou; and her brother-in-law Antonios Martakis; Helen is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Mihail Martakis; her two sons, Periklis and Spiros Martakis; a sister-in-law, Dina Mitrou; her nephew, Spiros Mitrou; her niece, Maria and husband Nikos Dalgas; two great nieces, Costandina and Emily; as well as many other family and friends both here and in Greece.

Greek Orthodox funeral services will be held Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1200 Klockner Rd., Hamilton, NJ. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, 1800 Hamilton Ave., Hamilton, NJ. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church prior to services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619.
