Lillian Russo, a lifelong resident of Trenton, entered eternal rest on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at the age of 94 at Compassionate Care Hospice at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton, with her loving family by her side. Lillian was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In her early years, after graduating from Trenton Central High School, Lillian, was employed by General Motors Corporation. Later, she was a sales associate with the LuAnn Dress Shop in Trenton.
She was an excellent homemaker, renowned for her signature Roman-style meatballs and the generous table she shared with family and friends. A member of “The Club Girls”, Lillian loved the lifelong bond of friendship and card games she shared with her special friends and cousins. Lillian's humility, concern, non-judgmental nature, and motherly virtues have been the hallmark of her life.
The daughter of the late Mariano and Maria (Pirleonardi) Scartocci, Lillian was preceded in death by her sister, Laura Scartocci Bonfanti, her brother, Mario “Red” Scartocci, her devoted husband of 71 years, Frank D. Russo and her son, Dr. Joseph Russo, MD.
Lillian is survived by her two loving sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Russo, Esq. and wife Dr. Charline Russo and Glen Russo and wife Ellen; grandchildren and spouses Jonathan Russo and Dr. Vicky Pilitsis, Alex Russo, Kayleigh Pettit, Esq. and Chris Pettit, Brianna Russo and Joseph Roziner, Kathryn Edgerton, Esq. and Ford Edgerton, Dr. Jennifer Russo, MD and Dr. Robert Zilinyi, MD and Scott and Stephanie Russo. She is also survived by her cherished great grandchildren Julianna and Marcus Russo and Christopher and Alexandra Conti as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to participate in the Celebration of Life Services that will be held 10:00 am Friday, September 7, 2018 at the Hamilton Brenna Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse Mercerville Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619. Entombment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Garden of Peace Mausoleum, 400 Woolsey Street, Hamilton, NJ 08610.
Calling hours will be held Thursday September 6, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
