Christine Conti, 79, of Florence, NJ, entered into God’s eternal rest on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the Compassionate Care Hospice Unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton surrounded by her loving children. Born and raised in Trenton, Christine was a life long area resident. She was a graduate of Trenton Central High School, St. Francis School of Nursing, and Stockton State College earning a Bachelor’s degree. Christine was a Registered Nurse who retired from Princeton Medical Center in Princeton in 1996 after more than 40 years of dedicated nursing. She was an integral part of the team that created the Special Care Nursery at Princeton Medical Center. She loved “her babies” as she called them, and helped save many tiny lives. She loved to cross stitch, especially whenever someone was having a baby. She loved to swim and enjoyed the beach, especially LBI. Christine loved nothing more than creating cherished memories with her grandchildren. Christine was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many.

Christine is preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Frances (Cordaro) Lavinaro; her infant brother, Frank Lavinaro; her beloved husband, Robert G. Conti; Christine is survived by her 3 loving children, Christopher R. Conti and wife Irene, Susan and husband Michael Wieszczek, and Matthew R. Conti; 4 beloved grandchildren, Michael and Joseph Wieszczek, Nicholas and Matthew Conti; a sister-in-law, Annette and husband William Hogan; a brother-in-law, Lawrence Conti; as well as many cousins, and dear friends.

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Chris for many years when she worked in the nursery at Princeton Medical Center. And she took care of both of my children when they were born. Always remember her holding and feeding a baby .My sincere sympathy. Paula Davis

Dear Susan, Christopher, and Matthew, May the Holy Spirit console you and strengthen you in the legacy of care, kindness, expertise and wit that your mother shared with so many babies and their families in their most difficult times. She was an exceptional example of a nurses's dedication to the most fragile infants, and she provided comfort and guidance to their parents. Her contribution to the Special Care Nursery at Princeton Medical Center is immeasurable. I personally owe her a debt of gratitude for all the help and guidance that she provided me in establishing the Special Care Nursery. I thank you Susan, Christopher and Matthew for sharing your mother with us! Fondly and with gratitude, Dr. Mihalyfi.
