Obituary for Caliope Muzithras (Madias)

Caliope Muzithras, 80, of Lawrenceville, NJ entered into her eternal rest in the Lord on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at her daughter’s home surrounded by loving family. Born in Steubenville, Ohio, Callie as she was affectionately known to family and friends had resided in the Lawrence area for the past 60 years. Callie was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Hamilton, NJ where she was also a member of its Philoptochos Society and a member of the Daughters of Penelope Altes #163 as well as Agia Markella.

Callie loved baking and traveling to Greece during the summer with her late husband Pericles who she also took care of during his illness faithfully. She loved nothing more than her children and grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. May her memory be eternal.

Daughter of the late George C. and Theano (Livanos) Madias; beloved wife of the late Pericles Muzithras; sister of the late Maria Koutouras and Presbytera Demetra Poulos; Callie is survived by her four daughters, Marica and husband Constantinos Frangis, Theano Muzithras, Viera and husband Michael Spiegel and Amelia Muzithras; four grandchildren, Alexander Frangis, Demetra and husband Adam Aguilar, Kurt and Jason Spiegel; two brothers, Efstratios C. Madias and wife Katina, and Nicholas C. Madias; a brother-in-law, Constantinos Koutouras; and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Greek Orthodox funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1200 Klockner Rd., Hamilton, NJ. Family and friends may call prior to services at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619.
