Peter Thomas Rago, 91, of Hamilton, entered into God’s eternal rest on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Capital Health at Hopewell. Born and raised in the Chambersburg area of Trenton, Peter was always very proud to have been born in Chambersburg and often told stories of his happy childhood. He resided in Hamilton Township for the past 59 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Peter was head of maintenance for the Trenton Board of Education for 37 years prior to his retirement.
Peter was a member of the Hamilton Senior Citizens, he loved fishing and billiards. He was extremely competitive and loved shooting pool, he won many tournaments and his nickname was “side pocket Pete”. Pete loved and cherished his time with his family. He was very social especially with all of his neighbors. Pete had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing to anyone he encountered in Italian. He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.
Son of the late Joseph and Maria (Cerenzio) Rago; brother of the late Dominick, Anthony and Albert Rago, Vera Chiacchio and Edith Kupecki; father-in-law of the late, Anthony Prunetti; he leaves behind to mourn his loss, his wife of 59 years, Joyce (Rouse) Rago; his three daughters, Karen Rago, Melissa and husband James Cacace, and Leslie Prunetti; two grandchildren, Chelsea Tozour and Anthony Cacace; a sister-in-law, Judy and husband Ron Exner; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. Raphael’s Church, 3500 So. Broad St., Hamilton, NJ. Calling hours will be held Monday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Tuesday morning from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619. Cremation will be held after mass and will be private.
