Catherine Selma Firestone, 89, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 5, 2020, in Hamilton, New Jersey surrounded by her loving family.

Selma, as she was known by all, was born in Trenton, New Jersey where she was a lifelong resident before moving to Hamilton. Selma worked for General Electric, Superior Title Search and the State of New Jersey retiring from the Department of Labor and Industry, Commissioner’s Office.

She was an active member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church where she made lifelong friends. Much of her time was devoted to philanthropic clubs associated with the church including the Maids of Athens Erectheion and the Daughters of Penelope Altes #163. Selma was a member for over 50 years and was a past president.

Selma was well traveled and her home was filled with pictures and small treasures from her extensive travels with her husband William. Their adventures took them throughout the country. Her favorite destination was Alaska. She spoke so fondly of the natural beauty.

Selma was very well read and was quite the movie buff as she enjoyed watching classic movies. Her children and grandchildren also benefited from her love of knitting and crocheting. Her works were meticulous and impeccable.

Selma will always be remembered as a true friend and confidant to all that knew and loved her. She was steadfast in her ways and always stayed true to her beliefs. Selma was full of life and treasured every moment with those she loved.

Selma is preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, William Firestone, her parents George and Sadie (Nicholas) Allen, her brothers Toufic and Joseph Allen. Selma is survived by her brother Herbert P. Allen and wife Jane; her children, Christopher Firestone and wife Jenny, Deborah Deorocki, Donna and husband Mario Guidici, Carol and husband Rick Kloss, and Georgeann and husband Tommy Carnevali; a sister-in-law, Joyce Allen; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, Godchildren and friends.

Due to the current pandemic, Greek Orthodox funeral services will be held privately at St. George Greek Orthodox Church for immediate family only, and are under the direction of the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Selma’s memory to the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1200 Klockner Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Dear Firestone Family ... We have very fond memories of your parents from all the parties at Kathy's home back in the day and many special occasions. We are so sorry to hear of your mother's passing and that your dad passed prior. They were just such lovely, family oriented, and interesting people, that we loved to chat with them and always enjoyed their company. We pray that your wonderful memories bring you peace. With our heartfelt sympathy ... The Resch Family (Shawn, Lucia, Clayton and Madia)

I can’t believe your gone so soon after daddy went home. I guess you could not stay without him. It’s ok. Don’t worry about us we will stay tight as a family. I thank you both for teaching us compassion, a strong work ethic and how to love. We are lucky to have had you. Thank you for never judging me through my mistakes , triumphs and tragedies. You were always there for me unconditionally. You always listened and gave me you opinions and let me do it my way. I will always remember our quiet talks and I truly got to know you. You always had a few secrets but that is just fine with me. I will miss you dearly and hope you and daddy are at peace.

All my love
Your G Gala
