Obituary

Jack Onick Manoukian, age 76, of Princeton, NJ entered into his eternal rest on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at home. Born in Cairo, Egypt, Jack had immigrated to the United States in the 1960’s. He married his loving wife Aida in 1969 and together they raised a beautiful daughter Christine. Jack was employed for many years as a central reservation’s manager at the Helmsley Palace in New York, NY. Jack loved his cigars and a fine cognac. He was very proud of his Armenian heritage. Jack was a loyal family man who loved spending quality time with them, especially his beloved grandchildren. He formed strong friendships, especially with his late best friend Vartan Aklian and Vartan’s family became an extension of his own family. Jack was strong willed and spoke his mind. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Son of the late Onick and Arshalouis (Partikian) Manoukian; grandfather of the late Constantine Moraitis; and best friend to the late Vartan Aklian; he leaves behind to mourn his sudden loss, his loving wife of 52 years, Aida (Kalfayan) Manoukian; his one and only beloved daughter, Christine and husband Stergios Moraitis; his two cherished grandsons, Jack and Nicky Moraitis; his sister, Elize Samsonian; 3 sisters-in-law, Sonia Karahissarian, Linda and husband Berge Apissoghomian, and Perouze and husband George Messiha; as well as many nieces, nephews, God children, and other family and friends both here and overseas.

Armenian Orthodox funeral services will be held Monday, February 8, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619. Family and friends may pay their respects from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at the Greenwood Cemetery, 1800 Hamilton Ave., Hamilton, NJ. Uncle Jack was one of a kind. I will always remember his strength, humor, confidence, and kindness. I admired the way he could make people feel instantly at ease as if they had known him for years only minutes after they met him, his fluency in multiple languages, the way he knew New York City like the back of his hand, and his sincerity. After his best friend, my Dad, passed away, he was always there to keep his memory alive and provide fatherly advice. His love for his family and dear friends was unparalleled. I will miss your big hugs, beaming smile, and loving nature. You will be missed so much and will always remain in our hearts. We love you always, Uncle Jack. -Pia
