Obituary

Virginia Peroni Bergen Zanini passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. She was 92 years old.

Born in Trenton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late William and Rose Peroni and the last remaining sibling of Mary Colemen, Helen Mangione, Gloria Damiano and Pasquale Peroni. Step-mother of the late Barbara Riddle and Robert Zanini Jr.

Virginia moved to Las Vegas with her husband, Jerrald Bergen, in 1975 and proceeded to work in the casino industry for twenty-two years until her retirement. She returned to Hamilton, NJ in 2012.

She was the beloved wife of the late Jerrald Bergen and the late Robert Zanini.

Virginia is survived by sons Larry Bergen (Nancy) of Fairless Hills, PA and Jerry Bergen of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by four grandsons, four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Virginia has always said, "I hope God likes cream puffs and Italian wedding soup cause that's what I'll be making him."

Virginia's family would like to thank Anne Marchetti and all of Virginia's friends at McCorristin Square for all of their help before and during her illness.

I will always remember one Christmas, my Aunt Dinnie made a tabletop Snowman. She was so crafty! She wrapped Cotton batting around a glass jar for the body. Batting was wrapped around a cardboard tube for the head, and the hat was also cardboard! She decorated it appropriately with a scarf and buttons and an adorable face. I went up to it and exclaimed to her how much I loved it! She said I could have it, just like that! My mom objected, but my aunt insisted I take it home. This is just one example of her generosity! Every Christmas, I think about that homemade Snowman and wish I still had it. RIP Aunt Dinnie. You will never be forgotten!!! Your loving Niece, Mary

We send our deepest sympathy to Larry, Jerry and all the family in the passing of our dear cousin Virginia. She was one of the sweetest and most thoughtful persons we have ever known. We were so glad that she spent so many years nearby us here in Nevada. We especially remember the delicious homemade desserts she always served and the beautiful birthday and anniversary cards she always sent. We will miss our dear cousin Virginia.
